Celebrities Join Our Board of Trustees!
We are very pleased to report that, effective April, 2007, we have three new Board members whose names and faces you may recognize:
Helen Gurley Brown … was editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan Magazine from 1965-1996. She has authored several popular books, including “Sex and the Single Girl” and “Helen Gurley Brown’s Single Girl’s Cookbook”.
Ms. Brown has appeared in numerous movies and
television shows including The Tonight Show, What’s My Line, Good Morning America, and The Merv Griffin Show.
An animal lover and advocate, we welcome Ms. Brown
to our Board of Directors.
Jaclyn Smith … Chosen by People magazine as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the world, Jaclyn initially aspired to be a famous Ballerina.
In 1973, she landed a job as a Breck Shampoo model.
She is best known, however, for her role as the gorgeous Kelly Garrett on the long-running Charlie’s Angels TV Series (1976-1981)…the only Angel not to leave during the show’s entire five-year season run.
Ms. Smith has appeared in over 50 movies on television and the silver screen, including a starring role in Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy and The Bourne Identity.
She has her own extremely successful clothing line,
currently hosts “Shear Genius”, and has generously donated autographed photos to our online eBay
charity auctions.
Annie Haslam … was born in Bolton, Lancashire, England,
and is an English progressive rock vocalist and songwriter.
Best known for her long tenure with the group Renaissance,
her earliest interest was fashion design.
Since she began her solo career in 1977, she has produced
eight albums – three of which were on her own record label,
White Dove. In the wake of relocating to the U.S. in 1993, Ms. Haslam
was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her struggles became the inspiration behind 1994’s “Blessing in Disguise”.
She is an avid animal advocate, and is involved in several
charitable causes worldwide.
Also a professional artist, Ms. Haslam has graciously donated pieces of her artwork to the Pets For the Elderly eBay charity auctions. (Photo by Ebet Roberts)
